Real head scratcher for me.
New user using Logic 10.4.8.
When I load preset channel strips from the sound library they play monophonically. i know the sources aren't monophonic. When i create a new track and load the same instrument and all of the plugins, with the settings copied and pasted, the sounds are polyphonic.
Anybody have any ideas?
I feel so foolish. Midi controller channel was set to 2. I didn't suspect the controller because it seemed to work fine on certain sounds.

Ahhh never considered that as his post inferred plural. "Why are my software instrument tracks"
There's a remote possibility it's a control surfaces and/or a controller issue. Go to the upper left Logic Pro x Menu, to Control surfaces, select Bypass all control surfaces. Close Logic reboot and try again, also check to see if your MIDI controller has a monophonic setting.

It could indeed be that the OP thinks "monophonic" means "in mono" (as opposed to stereo). We have to clarify that first.
So, monophonic really means that an instrument can only produce one note at a time (like a flute, trumpet, saxophone, human voice, monophonic synth, etc.) The ES2 can have a setting where it can indeed only sound 1 voice at a time.
The "confusing" thing is that a monophonic sound can be in stereo when it is modulated by any sort of stereo effect plugin.
ok, this behaviour happens in a clean blank project?
you’ve no automation at all embedded in the track?
when you play the instrument does the poly setting on es2 stay that way?
if you play more than one note does it cut off the playing one or not sound?
whats trak 2, have you any weird Plugin things on here?
Why do you think it's mono?
Play a notefrom a MIDI controller, you will see two level meters in the single metering slot.
Open the stereo delay and raise the "Stereo Mix" levels to L20 R45
Here is the ES 2. When i call up the channel strip the patch I can only play monophonically. When I save the ES2 settings as a patch and open a new ES2 in a new track and select the saved patch, it plays polyphonically.
Well, unfortunaterly I have no idea. When I open that patch, it plays polyphonically right away. I also do not know of any setting that would cause this. Sounds like a bug unique to your setup, which is unfortunate.
Can you show a screenshot of the ES2 GUI?

Agreed, but Ive rarely heard polyphonic used in the context of mono/stereo. - but you live and learn around here.

That's what I was afraid of Eric! If it was just this one patch, or just the ES2 that would be bad enough. But it seems to effect about 2/3 of the channel strips I have tried
