iMessages going to the wrong person

This has happened in three seperate incidents.

1)The first time was about three years ago - I would text a friend whose contact information was in my address book and it went to another person in my contacts. And they were very good friends. But if 'friend one' texted me - I could text her back with no problem. It went on for a while and seemed to resolve itself.

2)Then, last year, a few weeks after getting a new iPhone XR, I texted my husband and when I typed in his name - his sister's name and photo popped up. I asked my sister in law if she got a text from me and she said that she had been getting them for a while but thought I was just doing it on accident. They have different last names. They live in different states. All three of us have iPhones. All three of us use Verizon. She is not his emergency contact. If my husband and I have to say something confidential, we DM each other on GroupMe. I have deleted both of them and re-input their information. That did not resolve it - BUT It has either not happened in a while - or she just hasn't bothered to tell us lol. The name and photo issue has not happened.

3) THEN.... I iMessaged my daughter in law from my MacBook yesterday and it showed her name and her photo...and a stranger who did not have me in her contact list got the message. I don't know if I have her in my list because I didn't want to ask her personal information. The conversation also appeared to be going to my D-I-L when viewed on my iPhone. (I sync to my iPhone, MacBook, iPad, and iWatch. The local Verizon guy is perplexed. help? please?

Hey there AdamsPC,

Thanks for reaching out to us with this trouble you're having with iMessages going to the wrong person. First, we want to make sure that the effected recipients don't have any linked contacts attached to their information. We'll check your husband first, so go to Contacts, tap his Contact Card and tap "Edit" in the upper right corner. Scroll down to the bottom to "Linked Contacts". If there is anything linked to his contact, delete it. You can do the same for your daughter-in-law.

Let us know if this helps you.

Take care and be safe.

Hey again AdamsPC,

Thanks for checking that for us. Let's see if we can isolate this issue further. Try deleting a couple of those effected contacts from your list, like your husband and daughter-in-law. Then send them a text only using their telephone number. If this issue persists without and previous contact info, the next step will be to contact your wireless carrier for further assistance.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Have a great day!
