When "importing" media, I can see the "Videos", but....

When "importing" media, I can see the "Videos", but when I "click" and "drag" the video the file does NOT import. What is the keyboard command ? (or am I doing something wrong.)

I am struggling to import media onto FCPX When I press on the import button, and then navigate to desktop, it doesn't doesn't show me what's on my desktop in a drop down menu thing, even when I toggle it on and off, so I cannot access the files on my desktop, where all my videos are. Here is a screenshot. I have tried the drag and drop option, which works fine, but when it does that, it automatically copies files to the library, whereas I want to leave files in place. Any help would be much appreciated. This is Monterey, and the latest version of FCPX

I can't even import a clip into Motion!!!!! At one time I could use Motion but now I can't even import a video clip from my desktop! There are a couple of dozen files, folders and video clips on my desktop but when I select "Import" this folder is the only thing that is visible. What am I doing wrong? How do I make all the other files visible?

iMovie not importing media I'm working on a video in iMovie and am trying to import .MOV, mp3, and mp4 files to edit. I can click on the file in the import folder, click "import selected", but then it does not show up in "my media". I know these files are supported by iMovie because I have uploaded them before, so I'm not sure why it's not working now. Is this a bug that needs to be fixed, or am I doing something wrong?

If you are using the import window, you select the video and click on Import Selected in the lower right hand corner.

If you are importing from a Finder folder, you drag the video into the timeline of an iMovie project.
