CarPlay--not getting banner notifications or sound when receiving texts

Hi All,

Hoping someone has an answer to this issue. I used to be able to get banner notifications as well as notification sounds each time I received a text message through CarPlay. Starting around 6 months ago they stopped. Possibly an IOS update caused this problem? I still see the "number of messages" indicated on the messages icon on the screen. I have a 2019 Mazda CX-5 GT; use usb to connect to CarPlay; software version: 70.00.335; IOS version 13.6 on phone. I have tried the following:

1. soft reset on Infotainment system

2. reset phone

3. unpaired phone with car and re-paired

4. uplugged usb in car and re-plugged

5. had Bluetooth on; toggled off now

6. phone not on silent

7. "do not disturb" is off

*** I can still hear the messages read back to me through the speakers and I can answer and send (just don't get notification banner or "ding" sound when they arrive)

Anything else I should try or is simply an IOS issue that needs to be fixed. Any ideas

would be appreciated. (Couldn't find a specific "topic" for this so simply chose "Iphone"; if there is a more appropriate forum please let me know.
