how to connect xlr microphone to macbook air 2018

I want to connect an xlr microphone to my macbook air 2018 using 1) XLR to 1/4 TS Microphone Cable, Unbalanced Female XLR to Male 1/4 (6.35mm) TS Cable, 2) 1/4" Female To Mini 1/8" TS Male Mono Adaptor, and 3) a headset splitter adapter. But the computer does not recognize the microphone. I appreciate your advice!
