Aftermarket Headphone jack aux adapter stops playing song after 45 seconds with message not supported

I bought a aftermarket adapter so I can plug in headphones into my iPhone 10 and it will play 45 seconds of the song then it will stop playing and the message comes up not supported device. I bought the adapter at a non Apple store FYI. Is there any tricks or settings I can change so that my phone will support this non Apple auxiliary cable adapter or should I just buy another aux adapter at an actual Apple store?
