I am able to send and recieve all kinds of messages on my Iphone. Same goes from Macbook Pro and IPad Pro unless it is a conversation with a non IPhone user and certain group messages. Any insight? I have tried resetting things, etc.

Non iPhone users do not use iMessage. Therefore, the Mac and iPad have no internal ability to process these, as these devices are not cellular telephones. They rely on your iPhone to process and forward that information.

I have never had this problem before. I have always been able to send and receive non IPhone messages on my computer/pad.
Therefore, you always had things set up correctly per the above article.
