Tiny red light

There is a tiny red light my the front camera on of my IPhone XR, I can see it when I look closely on the left side of the camera. Should I be concerned? Is it recording something without me telling it to?

its super small but for some reason I noticed it, it’s kinda scary I don’t know if it’s supposed to be there or not.

You are most likely seeing the proximity sensor (or possibly one of the other sensors). If ambient light hits it, it can look like a light.

Hi KennedyWR,

there shouldn’t be any lights coming from the cameras. With that being said, there’s no light indicator when your iPhone is recording so no worries your iPhone is most probably not recording. If it does cause the camera or anything else to malfunction feel free to bring your iPhone to an apple store so they can check it out. But if it doesn’t, it’s not a big deal.

Hope it helps.

Charles
