I have just purchased a new Apple macbook pro. I have an old HP Deskjet 3050A printer that I can't seem to install. Why?

You haven't told us anything about the "problem" you are having "installing". To begin, did you visit the HP support web site to see if they have a current driver for your printer which will work with the Catalina OS? if the printer is an old one, they may no longer support it. Printer manufacturers are notorious for that. Does your printer have the Air Print capability? If so, that should work. And last, if all else fails, you can go to the link below where they have a lot of drivers for older printers. Good luck.

Impossible for us to know why without any sort of details or specifics.

What happens when you try to install it?

What kind of problem are you having exactly?

What happens when you plug it in to the Mac?

Are you having a problem getting the Mac to recognize the printer or installing its associated software?

Explain your issue. Provide details and someone may be able to help you.
