Priority Wi-Fi / Ethernet

Question type: general

MacOS

Wi-Fi / Ethernet

Hi all,

If a MacBook is connected to Wi-Fi and Ethernet, which method will be used for connecting to the Internet?

Let's say that I would like to use Internet with cable, but I need Wi-Fi for features like Airdrop and so on.

How can I be sure that the mac will use Ethernet connection for Internet access?

I suspect maybe through system report and checking interfaces, like en0 etc?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

In system network preferences put Ethernet at the top of the list. The network at the top takes precedence. So if you are connected to Ethernet it will use the Ethernet connection. Wifi will be used only if Ethernet is not available.
