ERROR SAVING VIDEOS TO CAMERA ROLL

Hi, all! Hope you are well.

I am using LumaFusion to edit videos on my iPad Pro 12.9 (4th gen) and, for some reason, kept getting an error whenever I tried to export the final product to the camera roll at the end. I thought it was an issue with Luma, but apparently it isn't since I can export the same file to other locations. After saving it to the Documents by Readdle app, I tried again to export it from there onto the iPad and got the same error message, which reads:

Error occurred while processing file 'CRATE.mp4'

The operation couldn't be completed.

(PHPhotosErrorDomain error -1.)

Does anybody know what this is about and how I can fix it?

Thank you in advance!

Sofia

Hi Sofia,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We're glad to look into this with you and help in any way we can, so that you're iPad is able to export videos to Photos, as expected.

To start, please let us know a bit more about what's going on. Is this occurring with every video file you attempt to export from LumaFusion or Documents by Readdle?

Have you restarted your iPad since noticing this behavior? What's the exact version of iPadOS installed on your device? This can be confirmed under Settings > General > About.

Also, please head into Settings > Privacy > Photos, and verify that both third-party apps are allowed to access Photos.

Here's a great resource with more information about these options:

Hi Sofia,

The clarification is helpful. Since it appears that the issue is isolated to LumaFusion, let's take steps to ensure that your iPad is otherwise working as expected. If so, we'll be sure to point you in the right direction to consult with the app's developer.

First, it's important to ensure that LumaFusion is fully updated. The following guide explains how to check for available app updates in the App Store:

Update apps or use automatic downloads

If you find that the issue remains, and you've already restarted your iPad, we can recommend deleting and then reinstalling LumaFusion. Please note that deleting an app will remove all app data from your iPad. If the app's data isn't syncing with an online service, it may not be recoverable after reinstalling the app.

If you find that the same issue keeps occurring after reinstalling, or would prefer not to delete the app, reach out to the app developer directly at that point to inquire about this error and any possible solution or workaround.

Here's a guide with the steps to find the contact information for a developer in the App Store:

Thank you so much for the quick reply! Let me give you a bit more detail on that...

So far, I have only had this problem with files generated by LumaFusion — either exporting them straight from the app or even after saving them onto Documents by Readdle and then trying to export to the camera roll from there. I have successfully exported other files from Documents by Readdle without any problem, so I’m guessing the real issue lies with Luma. I have restarted the iPad and also checked the privacy settings, both apps have permission to access Photos. I am running iPadOS 13.6.1.

If there is anything else that can be done, please let me know. I read a post by someone on another forum and they got a reply instructing them to connect their device to iTunes, but I don’t currently have a Macbook or a PC available to do this and I believe that shouldn’t be necessary, there must be a way to fix this.

Thank you again for the help!
