I bought and paid for dragon's lair - daring edition a few years ago, now that i updated to catalina it will not open, i am not buying it again since i already paid for it, is there a fix?

if it's a 32bit app then the developer needs to update it if it's from app store you can try there, if it's from steam its elsewhere
if the developer no longer wish to support it then you're out of luck

Under Catalina, only 64 bit apps can run. Very likely you have an older 32 bit program. I would check with the provider and see if they have an update available for download. If you have any other 32 bit apps, they too will have to either be updated or upgraded for a cost. Good luck.
As a small addition: if that game can’t be updated, you can always install Mojave on a separate drive and use itwhen you want to use it , or other software that doesn’t work in Catalina.
not sure how demanding the game is but recall it as pretty but that was in the 1980s
if it does not rely on fancy 3d features it may run under parallels virtual machine running mojave
I got it from the app store, but it looks like its only available now for the iphone or ipad , thank you. unless i missed something and its available for catalina?
