DEFAULT IPHONE CAMERA APP RECORDS INCORRECTLY

When I record in portrait mode via default iPhone camera app and then playback the video, the video I recorded shows an entirely different area I never pointed my camera at. In other words, what I see on screen while recording isn’t what the camera actually sees. I don’t zoom at all. And this issue occurs most of the time.

For example, I’ll record in portrait mode (no zoom) something I’m watching on my big tv and line up the sides of my tv as a guide to keep the camera focused on the entire tv. When I playback what I just recorded, a portion of the tv is out of the shot (hence screenshot).

I’ve restarted my iPhone XS Max many times, made sure it was up to date, and even tried recording the same way through my Instagram app and TikTok app and zero issues. Further proving it’s not the camera, it’s the default camera iPhone iOS 13 app. Try it yourself and let me know. Again sometimes it works fine.

It’s annoying because I’m definitely not zooming or playing with the settings. It’s a minor issue I hope Apple fixes. I shouldn’t have to stand or sit even further back and then crop the video. It’s $1,200 phone.
