How can I install Mac OS X and updates without the need for an Internet connection?

I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro 16-inch, and Catalina 10.15 was pre-installed even if I would have preferred to install everything by myself.

Now I want to upgrade to 10.15.6. I downloaded both the full version and another upgrade. However, I tried both but there popped up a message stating that I needed an internet connection in order to install the upgrade, and the same happened when I tried to install the whole operating system.

I find it unacceptable that I cannot install programs or upgrades on my own computer without being dependent on an internet connection in order to maintain my machine. I have paid for my computer, and it should be capable of installing programs and updates also in the absence of any net connections and services.

So therefore I ask: How can I install Mac OS X and updates without the need for an Internet connection?

Yes, you paid for your computer. And your computer was shipped to you with an adequate version of MacOS already installed. There is no inherent need for an Internet connection to obtain the full advertised capabilities of the machine. You are good to go.

If you would like to Install Updates and enhancements, Apple will supply some to you for free, but only over the Internet. They are not available separately.
