MacBook Pro (2019) Touch ID stops registering touches

Hello! I have been using my mbp for some time now and used Touch ID often. Recently (a week ago) Touch ID decided to stop registering touches. When I press it it just does not register any fingerprint. When I reset Touch ID and tried to add fingerprints again it goes through the beginning of the fingerprint adding animation (where it starts to fill in a finger) and then the next time I touch it it resets and goes back to nothing. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks in advance!

  1. Reset SMC by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset SMC. If that does not solve things then-
  2. Reset NVRAM/PRAM by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset NVRAM/PRAM. If that does not solve things then-
  3. Enter ➔ Safe Mode. Log out of Safe Mode and then reboot computer. If that does not solve things then-
  4. Finally if none of the above works then you can enter ➔ macOS Recovery Mode and reinstall the macOS and see if that solves it.
