i have deleted almost all my photos, messages and my phone automatically deletes apps I don’t use but my phone storage is still full. I had a look and half of my storage is “other” is there a way I can fix this??

In addition to deggie’s suggestion, your screenshot reveals why you have so much space in “Other”.
Pay particular attention to the “iCloud Photos” row. Note the circle and “1%” on the right. You should somehow complete this transaction, perhaps by plugging your iPhone into power and keeping it on wi-fi, or by force restarting the iPhone.
Go to review large attachments and delete the attachments in your messages
