How can one organize apps alphabetically on Launchpad?

My apps on launchpad are randomly arranged, and it will take days to get them organized.

Launchpad is a total mess!

Is there some way to arrange the apps alphabetically, just as a start?

(As usual, I must ask for directions, because there seem to be no published information from Apple. Or if there are directions, they are hidden, because there is no index. What a way for a data-handling company to operate!)

You are correct in saying that there is no means to automatically sort apps into alphabetical order, but PaulBoyer1 didn't state that he wanted to have the task done automatically.

I undertook the task myself on the 1st page of my apps on Launchpad, and per the instructions I replied with, I was able to arrange them all but the Apps icon which stubbornly refused to take up its rightful place in the top left corner.

Naturally, when I come to start my computer again later on today, I will check the opening page of apps to see if they have retained the positions I have arranged them in. What I haven't done is to rearrange the other 2 pages of apps.

I task I will attempt to perform at a later date.

Apple don't seem to have their own solution, so you might try this: macrumors 68020

Thanks. Click on one icon, hold down the mouse button and wait till they start to jiggle. Drag the icons into alphabetical order.1 Oct 2015

It worked for me on my 1st page of apps, but I haven't tried to move apps from page to page yet.
