How long is the iPhone Cellular Data Current Period?

On my iPhone Xs I have gone into the Settings\Cellular section and have scrolled down to the Cellular Data section.

The Current Period value is 35.8 GB.

I'm wondering how long this Current Period value is and the dates when it was measured since according to my AT&T cellular phone bill I only use between 1 GB and 6 GB of data per month.

This value of 35.5 GB seems like an awful more amount of data than I would use in one monthly billing cycle.

The “Current period” starts when you tap Reset Statistics. So it’s a good idea to do that at the start of your carrier’s billing period. I have a recurring reminder to to that. The value only includes cellular data, it does not include Wi-Fi. If you want to monitor Wi-Fi there are apps such as Dataman that can do that.
