Transferring Hi8 video from a 1996 Sony Camcorder

Hi. I have lots of Hi8 camcorder tapes that I want to transfer to my MacPro. The camcorder does not have a FireWire connection, or Aux, or S:Video. Just the two connection cables ‘Video & Audio Out’ (yellow and black cables). How can I transfer these to the computer. I’m assuming I need a converter, but as I only have the two cables I don’t know which one. Also what would be the best software to use. I’m stumped. Other support sites have not helped me.

You need to get Analog to Digital video converter. You can get it at Amazon.

Hi. Thanks for your help. If I get the converter I only have just the two connections of video and audio cables from my camcorder so not 100% sure it will work as they’re are 2 audio cables (left and right) on the converter instead of just one. I’m assuming I will need the software it comes with rather than use iMovie or Final Cut Pro?
