Transitions not available in iMovie

I have been using iMovie for a long time with no problems. Recently when I want to create a project,

the transitions feature is not working. All of the other functions work perfectly.

Maybe it happened when I did the most recent update?

Here is a screenshot of the situation.

Maybe someone can give me suggestions?

Appreciate any help.

Thanks

You might also try redownloading iMovie. To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. Sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash and return it to the Applications folder.

There have been several reports of glitches following the recent updates. Absence of transitions has been one of those.

There have been no consistent solutions to it. Resetting the System Management Controller worked to solve it for one poster, and so I passed it along to you.

Take a look at this thread for a cure of sorts that one poster found:

I just tried something

I signed into my computer as a guest user

It was like turning on my computer for the first time

Surprise surprise…When I opened iMovie, everything was there including transitions!!!

Also green/blue screen is working.

Only drawback is that all my projects and media etc. are not available to guest user.

At least I have the option to use this iMovie as a guest user.

Still would like everything restored on my other iMovie.

If you create an iMovie library on an external drive for your Guest account, you will be able to access that library in your regular user account after you close out of the Guest account. To experiment further, boot up in the Guest account and open iMovie in the Guest library that you created on the external drive. Then shut down and see if you can now boot up in your regular account and access the Guest iMovie library that is stored on the external drive. What happens when you do that? Are the transitions available?

I tried too and it worked! Logged myself out and then logged back in and all the transitions are available. Thank you for posting. I tried all the other suggestions and they didn't work. I also had the one transition available in each theme but none in no themes. Now they are all back. I hope Apple fixes this fast. That's four hours I can't get back.
