Update with COVID tracking

I have a concern about the new update on my phone that is imposing the COVID tracking and there is no choice to opt out and once an update is done you can’t revert back... what will happen with it in the post COVID times?

thanks for your insight

If you had read the Covid Tracking information completely, you would have seen that you will have to OPT-IN to the tracking to activate it. Also your state health department has to be using the tracking ability. At this point, I think only 4 states have opted in.

Yes I have seen several explanations about opting out, but that was about an external app that you could delete when all this COVID business finishes, and I wouldn’t mind temporarily opting in for this one, but here an update is irreversible, it will have to attach to my phone some facilities to track me that won’t be necessary in the future and I feel very uncomfortable with that. What is the purpose of imposing this (because I will eventually have to update) when there is already an app for this very purpose?

I understand what you are saying, but if the setting can be turned on, I imagine that it can also be turned off if you no longer want to use it. Furthermore, this negates the need for states that have been slow to adopt to have to come up with apps of their own, if I read the information correctly.
