apple mail different signature when replying

Does Mac Mail really not have a way to use a different signature when replying to an email? I sure can't find it.

It's pretty basic functionality to use one "full" signature when composing a new email and then a different, probably "shorter" version when replying. -- that avoids cluttering up the email with useles duplicated information.

Are there add-ons that can do tis? After so many years of having this question, I can't imagine that Apple has any intention to address this shortcoming, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

And just for grins, why is there no "Apple Mail" topic?
