Airpods are unresponsive

Hi,

I am having major problems with my Airpods. I kept getting the left ear bud failing to play any sound. Followed the online advice and tried forgetting and resetting which worked for a day or so then started again. However, recently I told my iphone to forget the device again to get the left bud working but now the Airpods will not connect at all. I have tried:

1. Using other other devices to connect - no go
2. Resetting the aidpods by holding the reset button down, but it does not reset (the light turns white while the reset button on the charing case is held down then turns green as soon as it is released rather than the flashing white for Bluetooth connection)
3. Draining the Airpods of all power and the charing case then recharging.

Has anyone come across this and know how to get them working again?

1. Running the batteries down
