Car Music Auto Play Turn Off/Switch?

Hello,

I got a Volkswagen car were I connect through bluetooth with. I use this for listening to my music. When I come in the car, it switches from my AirPods to my car. Even when I got no music app on/open, it goes to the Apple Music app and automatically starts playing.

I never want to use the Apple Music app because there are some private things on there and I always use Spotify.

Is there a way I can select an app for my music? Or just turn the automatically play off?

It keeps annoying me when I get into my car and it automatically starts playing my private numbers from the Apple Music app.

Im on IOS 13.7

Thanks in advance.

Easy peasy: go to the 'Shortcut'-app to create an 'Automation'.

First step is to create the 'When'. You can eather use the 'CarPlay' function or the Bluetooth function.

Mine goes like this: "When iPhone myname connects to myname's bluetooth earpods".

Than add the action: it's under 'Media', scroll almost all the way down (past 'Music') in the 'Playback' section and select 'Play/Pause'.

Don't forget to configure the function after you've added it : tap the highlighted 'Play/Pause' to select 'Pause'.

I've added a 'Set playback destination to myame's earpods" to it, not sure if that's necessary.

So basicly every time my phone connects to my earpods; it first gives a Pause command to the music player; thus disabling the Autoplay function.

Let me know if it worked for you; i've seen this question passing by a kazillion times, never found a satisfying answer ...

Based on my experience, it has to be the phone. iPhone does this with any and all Bluetooth devices -- not just a car audio system -- and it does it with music apps, video apps, content streaming apps like HBO Max and YouTube, etc.. Whatever you were last listening to or watching prior to connecting a device via Bluetooth will automatically start playing when the Bluetooth connection is established. If I turn my headphones off and then turn them back on, iPhone immediately starts playing the last thing app I was listening to or watching. Same thing in the car. I've tried every method of stopping this that I can find on the internet and I still have this issue.

Where the instruction on how to adjust that via my car? I’ve messed with every button in my car, and it’s not stopping the auto play. When I had an android, they’r there was a feature within my phone that I adjusted. I’m quite aware that the Android and apple are different platforms but I’m wanting to know where and how I turn off auto play. It drives me crazy.

I just got a new pair of Bose earbuds, and I have to take one of them out frequently to have a conversation in my office, and EVERY TIME I put it back in, "Music" would start blaring in my ears, and I would have to tap the phone to pause it. Very, very annoying, as you say. 100% should be a setting on the iphone to control that. I did find a solution for my particular issue though - Bose has an app that controls the settings of the headphones. I was able to find a setting to toggle off "Auto Play/Pause" when you remove or re-insert the earbud. As numerous posters have said, this should be controllable in the phone settings, but you may have to dig through your individual device settings (if available) to control it. Good luck. And thank you for taking the time to put it in the forum, as it helped me to find a solution.

Again, this is what Apple states also “ there is no autoplay feature” did you not read my post, i don’t care where it’s coming from, Apple should have the phone control this feature, by having a autoplay lockout, if the can prevent apps from being installed outside Apple store, they can certainly control if a blue tooth or app starts iTunes automatically, stop using this lame excuse we been hearing for 5 years and fix it. We should be able to control our phone not, bluetooth or it’s manufacturer of headsets or car units

This is a common complaint all over the internet, your comment is not helpful saying stuff that is not useful, i have 2 bluetooth devices in both cars and neither one of them have access to this function again your wasting your time because it doesn’t matter if it’s a bluetooth device or a app, you should have complete control of your phone, i also consider this not only a health risk, it’s a security risk. it’s a simple solution, have a toggle switch to cut off autoplay function for apps and bluetooth PERIOD!

Yeah, it is very a noise when car automatically play music from iPhone. I was able turned off auto play music from Android phone. Then now, I am using iPhone. And it automatically play music when connected to car. It is easier to fix in iPhone than request car maker. Is there a way to make a shortcut to stop it plays when connected to car? I am a new apple user.
