Unable to sign in with Apple ID; got the 6-digit verification code twice, but was rejected!

When I realized I had forgotten my Apple ID password - just got back my Macbook from Service - I requested a code via sms.

The first one wasn't verified, so I asked for a resend; it was also rejected, and know System Preferences is not even letting my Mac to shut down, being stuck to "Thank you. We will send you an update soon", seeing that I "am not to be trusted" it seems...

Any insights?

Have you tried shutting down the computer using the power button and then restarting after a couple of minutes? After doing that, try requesting another code.


See if anything here helps.  If necessary, you can use account recovery as explained in the link at bottom of the article.
