Can we exchange the pencil 2 if we found out our iPad isn’t compatible?

my 9yr old bought the Apple Pencil 2, only to find out the hard way it doesn’t connect to our iPad Pro 12 inch gen 2.

can we return or exchange this for a pencil that is compatible?

I’m annoyed at how easy it is to run into this situation - daughter is upset, and now have to use half of my Saturday to find a solution - all because she didn’t read the fine print? We’re used to apple products just working out of the box...

If purchased directly from Apple, you have a 14-day unconditional returns window - where, unsurprisingly, you can return an opened but undamaged Apple product for any reason.

If the Pencil was purchased from a non-Apple retailer, you will need to consult the specific retailers returns policy.

Apple products, by and large, do “just work”. This does of course suggest and require that two products are compatible with each other 🙂

You are not addressing Apple here. We are end users like you, volunteering to help with tech issues, not business matters. Unfortunately we cannot make anything happen.

Was the pencil bought online or in an Apple store?

Apple have posted their return policy here:

There is also an article addressing working around stores closed due to COVID here that may help:
