Macbook Pro 2012 wont shut down after Mojave upgrade

I recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to Mojave and it was working fine until I tried to turn it off.

The screen went black with a grey spinning wheel and it fails to turn off.

The usb mouse keeps working, so it is not turning the power off properly.

I would really appreciate if someone has any solution to this problem. I know that turning it off manually is not good on the long run.

Did you had any issue while upgrading to mojave?

Were you able to shutdown/restart once after the complete installation of mojave?

Please reboot in safe mode and check if you have the same issue.

Note: Safe mode prevents your Mac from loading certain software as it starts up, including login items, system extensions not required by macOS, and fonts not installed by macOS. It also does a basic check of your startup disk, similar to using First Aid in Disk Utility. And it deletes some system caches, including font caches and the kernel cache, which are automatically created again as needed.
