it is not the keyboard clicks
the feedback sound during long press supposedly belongs to "System Haptics" below "Keyboard Clicks" & "Lock Sound", I believe for iPhone with 3D touch, does not have that on/off option for "System Haptics"
For long press, it gives two kinds of feedbacks

is what Worked for me. Stopped the vibration and the sound. Thankfully.
was driving me nuts. Sick of hearing it constantly. Still don’t get why it starred
doing It to begin with. I never changed any of the settings, maybe the update changed it automatically. Either way was super annoying. So glad this stopped it. Just had to **** off the vibrate option under the settings, accessibility and then touch options.
thank you 🙏🏻!!
Accessibility/Touch/AssistiveTouch OFF removed this annoying clicky click sound on my iphone X (iOS 14). Hope it works for you guys too
I couldn't resolve the problem on my iphone12 mini, so I got an iphone 7 instead, and as far as I can tell the difference is that on the iphone 7 there is an option to toggle off 3D touch (or "Haptic Touch" on the newer models), as shown below:
Whereas on the 12 mini and other newer models, the screen for Haptic Touch only allows you to choose "Fast" or "Slow" but not to toggle it off (see screenshot below), which is maddening! You can choose fast or slow but you cannot turn it off. I would have kept my 12 mini if i weren't for this one problem. I don't know why they designed the newer phones this way -- so aggravating!
Although it's possible that it's both a software and hardware issue, and how ios 14 interacts with certain phone models, but it's definitely not a problem with ios 14 itself since I use ios on two phones (including the new 2nd gen SE) and am able to resolve the issue by toggling off the 3D Touch or Haptic Touch feature as described above (settings -->general-->accessibility -->haptic touch (or 3D touch) ).
“it's definitely not a problem with ios 14 itself since I use ios on two phones (including the new 2nd gen SE) and am able to resolve the issue by toggling off the 3D Touch or Haptic Touch feature “
I think that is an ios 14 problem though still - you should be able to turn off the new audible click in ios 14 without having to disable 3D Touch on those phones. Arguably that example is like having to turn off all keyboards to remove keyboard clicks.
That's the problem, unfortunately. That was one of the primary reasons I returned my iphone12 mini and got an iphone 7 instead -- the clicking noise was driving me nuts. On the 7, there is a toggle to turn off Haptic Touch or 3D touch. On the 12 mini and some of the other newer models, there is no toggle, only fast or slow. It's maddening. :(
Go to Settings, Accessibility, Touch and disable 3D & Heptic Touch. Eveything still works for me but the annoying loud click is gone. (iPhone 7, iOS 12.4)
Turn off vibration in accessibility. Though you lose vibration completely, but at least the haptic vibration is gone.
Darn it, it seems my screen shots didn't post! Go to settings -->general-->accessibility -->haptic touch (or 3D touch). If you can toggle it off, do so. If you can only choose Fast or Slow, then that's the problem as to why the click sound cannot be turned off. :(
"But can’t rule out someone at apple just deciding to add this without a user toggle to turn it off as an ‘improvement’"
This is what I think the problem is.
The reason being that I have ios 14.4 on two other phones (an iphone 7 and a 2nd generation SE), and neither have this problem, and the toggling off of the 3D Touch or Haptic Touch is what resolves the issue. But when I wanted to upgrade to an iphone 12 mini, I couldn't toggle off that feature and hence couldn't turn the clicking off. :(
I bought an SE some months ago and updated to IOS 14 some months ago. I reset all settings for a small problem.
Then since haptics was vibrating when I press for a long time on an icon, I disabled the vibration. It really annoyed me.
WHILE DESABLING THE ANNOYING VIBRATION > THIS UPSETTING SOUND REPLACED IT.
There is no way to disable it. I updated to IOS 14.4.1 hoping that this sound would disappear... Didn't work.
Either Apple arrange this bug or I will change the phone and never update again.
HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?
HOW?
Is there someone frome Apple that read this discussion?
I think the only option for that is keeping your phone on silent...
is it this one? https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251800863
