iOS 14 iPhone update - camera not working.

Hi all,

I have an iPhone 7 (model number: MN922X/A) and I recently updated the software to version 14 (iOS 14) and now my camera doesn’t work.

I have done some obvious troubleshooting steps of restarting my iPhone, and switching between camera modes and applications. The front and rear cameras are both black.

Anyone have any idea on how I can go about fixing this issue? looking forward to reading any thoughts you might have :)

Please note, I had not performed a backup of my iPhone before proceeding with the update.

Why re-print lies? Apple did work on the topic of this ancient thread and fixed it last quarter.

If you genuinely think 14.4 rather than 14.0 is still causing this and you want it to be considered in 14.5.x or 15

  1. Start a new thread specifically referencing 14.4
  2. Put in a fresh bug report for 14.4

Product Feedback - Apple

Nobody of any significance ( I including myself) will ever read this thread again and offer advice. Neither experts, nor Apple. It's too old.

Chat amongst yourselves by all means if it make you feel good but nothing will happen as a result.

I have tried to contact Apple support and have been waiting for a representative. I’m sure you don’t get this but many of us use our phones and the ability to scan/use your camera for work such as Shipt and instacart etc. I cannot work until I get this repaired and it impacted my business this evening so obviously a bigger issue if so many are experiencing it and has an impact on those of us that work this way.

They do believe me and are fixing it today - I am talking about you because your posts are not helpful to anyone by just defending them. Their update makes our phone not recognize the camera that didn’t just happen. I shared my experience so others can get it fixed too, since it needs to be fixed by apple. The number of me toos has more than doubled in one day, this is a new issue it’s a new update.

I just updated my iPhone to ios14 today and this is exactly what I am experiencing now, I wish I knew this earlier I won’t update my iPhone.

Apple please fix this issues because this isn’t a hardware problem.

you guys are forcing us to upgrade our phone to the newest iPhone, not everyone has the money to do that now on this pandemic session we are in. Please and please fix this bug issue.

thanks.

Update: Went to the genius bar they are charging me $80 to fix it even though they can see it is not my fault. If you are under warranty or apple care it should be free. I am shocked apple is charging due to their own bug and I no longer plan to keep being as loyal as I was. They used to fix their issues and no longer do. The new camera they are installing also is not guaranteed to fix the issue. If it doesnt work I can take the phone as is or I have to buy a new phone. Pretty ridiculous and disappointing considering I have all apple products and have never been charged for them to fix a bug before. Warn your friends to wait to update! I will post if they are unable to fix it with the new camera (if it is not fixed I will not be charged the $80)

I have the same issues with my iPhone 7 Plus. I have factory reset my phone after a long chat with the Apple support guys and the problem is still there. My phone works fine when I switch on and off for a really short amount of time then it goes back to the same problem. I have no trouble watching videos and playing music. I am still half convinced that it’s the hardware problem, which they kinda insist, but there’s no way I can confirm it anytime soon cause there’s no authorised service centre near my area. I just wanna know if any of the future iOS updates will fix this problem if it’s not hardware problem.

so I chatted with one of those Apple support people and he said he sees my cameras don’t work and that it’s a hardware problem that I might of dropped my phone( which my phone has no scratches or dents) asked how much and said XR front camera is 199$ and the back camera all together will be 399$ to replace. Since it’s hardware idk why I have to pay

Exactly this issue. Updated to iOS 14 and camera stopped working, flashlight too. The camera 3s setting is a workaround if you want to take a photo, but reverts back to black screen. Other apps which use camera also not working with camera feature. I use the camera as a scanned for work so really angry at apple’s lack of testing.

ios 14 update causes issue with camera and apps that use it.

also, thanks to this thread and searching current problem, it explains why mic/speaker stopped working after iOS 13 update.

Apple please get a fix to ensure this issue is resolved ASAP!
