Canon Printer error number 311

The specifications (https://www.cla.canon.com/cla/en/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/g_series_inkjet_printers/pixma_g2110#specificationsTab) show only Windows support for the G2110, whereas both Mac and Windows are mentioned (for example) for a G2100 model (https://www.cla.canon.com/cla/en/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/g_series_inkjet_printers/pixma_g2100#specificationsTab). G2000 Series Mac drivers are available for download under a Drivers & Software link for the G2100, but not for the G2110.

This appears to indicate that the G2110 model is intended for Windows only. This could possibly cause an error message when attempting to use a G2110 printer with a Mac. However, you may want to ask the printer supplier to verify this.

Yes, it sounds strange, but the specifications seem to indicate that the models are made with different operating systems in mind. We cannot rule out that a Windows-only model has some kind of simplified internal design (depending on the Windows computer to prepare the printing). Generally speaking, a computer may recognise a certain printer as available, but the printer driver could be inappropriate. What driver software are you using?

In a case like this, one could always try another driver for a similar printer. However, make sure that you download from the printer manufacturer's own sites only (or from Apple, or another trusted source, if applicable). I do not know whether the aforementioned G2000-series driver could be used, or make any difference at all (it is after all quite possible that the G2110 will not work with Mac).

If nothing else works, you may just have to try Windows via a virtual machine on the Mac.
