watchOS 7 Battery Drain

I updated my series 4 Apple Watch to WatchOS 7 today. I use my watch all day and usually have about 30% battery left when I go to bed and start changing. Today my phone got to 10% by 2:30 pm! Why is this drawing so quickly?

I saw on another thread from someone who tested the beta and they said turning off the hand washing timer helped. I’m going to give that a try and hope they fix it in an update soon. It’s disappointing that the problem existed with the beta and they didn’t fix it at that time.

Every time I workout I’m at half battery life at the end and I’m having to charge twice a day. I’ll keep singing my **** hand washing song for now. 😂

Try to unpair and then pair it back to your iPhone with the most recent backup. I did that this morning and my Watch Series 4 is back to normal.

It is dumb and it should not be this way, but it did the trick for me (and a number of others but clearly not everyone). Makes no sense why restoring the backup made when you unpaired your phone works when you load it back on your Watch.

Seriously after all this time still stony silence from Apple. Given their site doesn't even yet acknowledge feedback for Watch OS 7, it is obvious they have released this without any quality control and any thought for the impact. Might be time to consider whether the house full of Macs, iPads, iPhones and iWatches is actually worth it. Perhaps time to consider the Samsung alternatives, because this is absolute garbage.

I have opened ticket with Apple on the battery issue after the upgrade. After the troubleshooting session it became obvious that the third party software causes the issue. I have disabled all third party apps from my watch yesterday, rebooted the watch. Everything got back to normal today. I was trying to load several apps back to the watch one by one, but many malfunction. It looks like it is not compatible with the watch OS7. Some apps work just fine, some not. So, there is no fault on Apple side 😀

I posted this morning about this same issue. Subsequently I decided to unpair my Apple Watch 4, turned on and off my iPhone and then pair my watch again and guess what.....issue resolved. Woohoo!!! Battery life still doesn’t seem to be quite the same as it was 3 days ago but definitely able to get more than a few hours before it’s dead. It hasn’t died since I paired it back to my iPhone.

I have a Series 4 watch. I have never had less than 30% left on my watch when I went to bed. After installing iOS7, my watch battery goes dead before I go to bed. Today, my watch’s battery died at 2:00 pm. I never turned on the Activity tracker or accessed anything on my watch except using it for 45 minutes for driving directions. When I looked at the battery graph, it was a line going down at a 45 degree angle with no spikes. It was a straight line down. I would expected it to see variations in the battery usage, but didn’t see any variations. Apple please allow us to return to the older software operating system. My watch is useless now. I can’t charge it multiple times a day. THIS OPERATING SYSTEM IS A DISASTER!!!!!!!

i chatted with someone on the Apple

Support app. He said we need to bombard Apple Support with this issue to get a fix issued immediately. Without this might not get their attention. Here are steps:

1. Download the Apple Support (not Apple

Store) iOS app

2. Select your Apple Watch.

3. Click on Battery

4. Request a chat

5. iMessage window opens immediately with Apple support. In the chat explain precisely what happened and demand a fix.
