watchOS 7 Battery Drain

I updated my series 4 Apple Watch to WatchOS 7 today. I use my watch all day and usually have about 30% battery left when I go to bed and start changing. Today my phone got to 10% by 2:30 pm! Why is this drawing so quickly?

I had the same issue on my Apple Watch Series 4 after updating to iOS7. I tried shutting down background app refresh, and ensured sleep app and hand washing apps were off.

This didn't fix issue so I read on some other forums about repairing to your iPhone. So I did a reset on my watch. I restored using the same backup I just reset and today the problem seems to be gone. After a 2hour walk I have only went down 13% which is normal level. When I was running out of battery my watch was showing a 35% drop after my walk.

if restoring from the backup didn't work I was going to try setting up as new watch but obviously I didn't have to go that far.

Me again - spoke too soon. AW5 OS7.02 Morning run 45 mins, watch showing 88% charge at the end of it, a minute later it shuts down and restarts showing 10%. This is it's regular behaviour sometimes after 30 mins but recently as noted above it's managed up to 2 hrs before doing this. Been back to Apple twice and they claim the battery is fine (battery condition shows as 94%) but won't fix/replace it under warranty as they claim a fine cosmetic scratch on the face is 'accidental damage'. Many people are suggesting I go fitbit!!

I have two Apple watches, a series 6 that I just got (and was just replaced by Apple trying to fix the battery), and a series 4. Since watch OS 7 and my new Apple Watch, they both are draining really quickly. My series 4, which before would end the day around 35%, died yesterday at 6:30 pm after being on for only 12 hours. My series 6 today dropped to 83% after only 2 hours. I have to imagine there is something with the software that is screwing this up. I’ve already gone to Apple once and they replaced the series 6, but I’m having the same problems.

I have tried unpairing and setting up as new. I also took my iPhone back to factory and set it up as new. Still happening. I’m guessing this is a watch OS issue. I’m pretty tired of it.

I had the issue when IOS 7 was first released in October. Lasted a day and a bit only. But it went when I realised I had not powered down the devices after the update and powered them back up again. No problems since and excellent battery life, if not better than before. Initially it was a Series 4 I had it with. My Series 6 arrived shortly after. Again the battery issue initially which went after I took the same steps as before. As you say it points to a software issue but a selective one as it is not affecting everybody and members of my family with Apple watches have not had any problems at all. One member of the forum has suggested it could be a person’s iCloud account/database causing the problem.
