watchOS 7 Battery Drain
I updated my series 4 Apple Watch to WatchOS 7 today. I use my watch all day and usually have about 30% battery left when I go to bed and start changing. Today my phone got to 10% by 2:30 pm! Why is this drawing so quickly?

I had the same issue on my Apple Watch Series 4 after updating to iOS7. I tried shutting down background app refresh, and ensured sleep app and hand washing apps were off.
This didn't fix issue so I read on some other forums about repairing to your iPhone. So I did a reset on my watch. I restored using the same backup I just reset and today the problem seems to be gone. After a 2hour walk I have only went down 13% which is normal level. When I was running out of battery my watch was showing a 35% drop after my walk.
if restoring from the backup didn't work I was going to try setting up as new watch but obviously I didn't have to go that far.
I re-paired as a backup! deffo worked. now using 5% not 10% an hour!
** For all who wish to reset as new or from backup:
Just be careful after resetting as new device you turn OFF optimized battery charging.
Did you setup as a new device?
I did do a hard reset after, I always do after upgrade.
thank you @JFlindell.
I’ve also tried disabling a load of background app refresh options, not sure if that’ll help...
optimized (optimised) charging makes things worse, as I've found.
Seems like unpairing and repairing solves the issue for a bit. Lost only 3% in the last hour after pairing it again.
Will start some workout later and keep you posted.
I had this problem, normally 60% battery by the end of the day but getting 10% alarms at 7pm. I unpaired the watch and setup as a new watch and problem disappears
The problem is solved if you disconnect Watch first and then pair it again. Both the battery and GPS are working as usual again. I have the Apple Watch 4 and iPhone 11
Update:
After I've disabled handwash timer and battery life seems now way better than yesterday.
9am (100%) - 3 pm (85%), so lost 15% after 6 hours.
My battery health of my S4 watch is shown as 100%.
just unpair and then re-pair it. It solved the issue. Do remember to setup from a back up, you will see recent one with watch OS 7, just restore through it and it will be fine
Unpaired and repaired my watch. Battery has depleted by 8% in approximately 45 minutes since it restarted. So, no effect on battery drain. It’s effectively unusable as an all day device now.
same here, updated my series 4, draining my battery 20% faster than usual. Tried reset and still same, Hope they can resolved with a patch soon before it damages the battery for good.
Same problem here: yesterday I charged my Apple Watch series 5 after work to about 50% and about 4 hours later it was completely dead, without even using it more than average
On my 4, that is not the issue (at least not the only one). I have that feature turned off (timer and notifications) and the battery going down quickly.
