Tell Apple here:

Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Be specific about what you like and what you don't; if you just say it's "horrible" or a "nightmare" that's not constructive and so nothing can be done with that.

Say what you would like it to look like or how you want it to operate.

No one here can do anything about it.

1. I fully agree with the calendar update. I wish that apple would have 2 update requests for end users
update which just fixes the bugs but does not change the layout etc.. I have several users age above 70 who get very disturbed by the layout changes and it takes time for them to adjust or giving up completely on apple. Those users also don’t need nor use all the latest gadgets.
2. Update all in one for the users who like to have new features and gadgets.
I wish that apple would consider the older generation

Have you told Apple?

I do wish I had known what was going to happen to the iphone/ipad calendar before I updated mine. I have rheumatoid arthritis and have surgeries on both hands. I have so much trouble getting my fingers to make the changes that are now necessary to set an appointment in my calendar. There are times when I’ve just written it down, then entered them in my ipad/iphone after getting home. For me it is definitely not user friendly. I’m happy that some write that they have no trouble at all. I think, however, that enough people do to warrant looking at why the pre-update worked better and incorporate that into the next update...at least give people a chance to change back.

Calendars should be intuitive.

You're making an assumption that what is "intuitive" to you is "intuitive" to everyone else. In actually, it's really what we've learned and what we've gotten used to. I hated the iOS calendar for years. Slowly, it's gotten better, to the point where I actually use it. The fact that we have different opinions about the calendar doesn't mean one of us is right and the other is wrong. It just means different things work for us.

Meanwhile, there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of calendar apps in the App Store. It is likely that one of them will better suit your needs.

The updates to the calendar app are indeed atrocious! Great minds are supposed to be working behind the scenes to simplify apps and make quality improvements for the end user. This does not fit that criteria by a long shot! I’m pretty sure I showed up too early for an appointment and had to leave and come back (something that NEVER happens to me) and I suspect it was related to the poor design of the date/time feature.

I sure hope they can get rid of this change and get the old date/time functionality back in place. This is so awkward for anyone who’s used traditional electronic calendars, likely even newbies

Did you submit feedback to Apple?

People who have never used the iPhone calendar before will probably have no trouble at all as they won't have the old calendar to unlearn.

If you have read through this entire thread, you will see that people have indicated there are other calendars in the App Store that may better suit your needs. All you need to do is look. Some have indicated that Fantastical is one that seems to work quite well for many. I have no financial interest or other connection with that app, and actually don't use it. Just what others have said.

I think we all agree. The new calendar app is so bad the average ten year old could have done better. Apple, did you put somebody on work experience on this one? Please do something. I am delaying updating my iPad until this is fixed, as it’s the only place I can now enter new events.

It’s terrible.
Ugly, stupid and less intuitive. I’ll never get used to this new schedule.

I happen to like it but I don't expect that everyone in the world will share my taste. And I certainly don't think that, just because something's not to my taste, it's bad, wrong or terrible. That would be extremely arrogant.

But this is classic Apple. You adapt to Apple. Apple never adapts to you. It’s always a love hate relationship with Apple. I’m looking at options for my next laptop and phone to be a PC, android, and google calendar.

But, you'll find that, regardless of who makes the technology, at some point they will change it. And you will have to adapt to that change or, if you refuse, adapt to a different platform/device/application. Things are not going to stop changing.
