Tell Apple here:

Be specific about what you like and what you don't; if you just say it's "horrible" or a "nightmare" that's not constructive and so nothing can be done with that.

Say what you would like it to look like or how you want it to operate.

No one here can do anything about it.

Not sure what the complaint is about. I just went in selected Starts, changed the start time and selected the day, scrolled down and changed the end time, then selected Add. This way is so much easier because if you need to make an appointment two months in the future you don't need to go through an endless scroll wheel to find the right date.

What is so cumbersome that people are finding this hard to use?

I don’t have an issue with the new method of inputting the time, it’s just the clumsy layout.

In particular, editing a time underneath the original time rather than ‘in field’ editing. As a result, not being certain whether you’re changing the start time or end time.

And if you select a new date on the calendar towards bottom of screen, you get a cross through date and can lose the plot.

And it would be good, would it not, to show the day of the week mnemonic e.g. ‘Mon’ alongside the date so you stand a better chance of getting the appointment date correctly?

Some may not agree, but all I know is I’ve had more problems with this calendar than any previous versions. I have mis-posted several new appointments because of the change. There is an expression ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’. This applies perfectly in this instance I think.

From my perspective, this change is not for the better but change for change’s sake.
This new calendar app is a ill-conceived and poorly presented in comparison to the previous app.
Sorry you are dismissive of ‘people’.

I'm not sure what's so hard to understand about the fact that not everyone has the same preferences that you do. Not everyone thinks this change is bad.

I fully agree with the calendar update. I wish that apple would have 2 update requests for end users

  1. update which just fixes the bugs but does not change the layout etc.. I have several users age above 70 who get very disturbed by the layout changes and it takes time for them to adjust or giving up completely on apple. Those users also don’t need nor use all the latest gadgets.
  2. Update all in one for the users who like to have new features and gadgets.

I wish that apple would consider the older generation

Hi there. I’m not so worried about myself but have many users (friends and family) who are 70+ and each time apple makes an update I spend hours to give them support and get their devices set back to what they are used to...

i wrote once to apple and suggested that they should give 2 options when upgrade to another level

an update which just fixed bugs and the other

which also changes features

would be nice to have that option at least for the older generation who are not so flexible anymore

it’s also that older generation who spends their money on apple products for their children and grandchildren

Siri is incapable of taking on the level of detail of my appointments.

Here’s what I’d have to say as an example:

hey siri

make an appointment for next Wednesday between 15:00 and 16:00 and call it ‘fix mike smith’s computer’ with failed hard drive at the location 23 high street, northampton, NN5 6XX with phone numbers 01604 200000 and 07000 00000 and in Notes, please put door access code 7777 and remember to take 512GB SSD to replace existing HDD.

Get my drift ? 😳

I agree. I have many many clients who are over 70 and they get used to something and then some dude feels a need to change it for NO apparent reason. To justify their job? Leave things alone.

Are you suggesting that people over seventy are incapable of dealing with change or learning new things? If so, I think it's very sad that you're charged with helping people in that demographic.

But Siri is capable of making the appointment with the times you want, thus helping you avoid the dreaded new time picker. You can then go and add the details.
