Tell Apple here:

Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Be specific about what you like and what you don't; if you just say it's "horrible" or a "nightmare" that's not constructive and so nothing can be done with that.

Say what you would like it to look like or how you want it to operate.

No one here can do anything about it.

I used to be An Apple fan but not anymore.
The days when they user tested software and made sure user the user journey is always improved is well and truly over.

I buy Apple products for compatibility with all my other stuff, which I have because it used to be the leader in usability. But I seem to spend hours just about every day bemoaning the state of Apple software, I could and do design better myself.

Why are you telling me? 1) I don't really care and 2) I can't make any changes you want.

Let Apple know what you'd like to see here:

Tyrannical way Apple changes your phone without a word of warning, much less customer survey.

Apple has lots of mechanisms for getting feedback but customer surveys don't appear to be one of them. If you let Apple collect usage data from your phone (it's one of the things you're asked about when you set up your phone), they get information that way. They do extensive beta testing, including months of public beta testing. They also have a dedicated page for providing feedback:

Like many others, ridiculously hard just to add date and time. Who complained about former app?

Me and probably lots of other people. I found those little scroller things ridicoulous. I love the new method of using a keypad that is large enough for me to see without my glasses. So, not only did I leave feedback on the old version I also left feedback telling them how much I liked the new version.

I, however, don't assume that what works for me is the only way it could work for anyone. So, I suggest you submit feedback, too.

Calendar is very user unfriendly.. hard to distinguish days from appts. Previous calendar had larger lettered days and more space between them. Now they are a confusing mess.. the colored bars on the left make it worse. Was checking days for making doctor appt and it was very difficult to find dates. Older format SO MUCH more user friendly. Makes me hesitant to open updates!
