Hi, my iphone X is suddenly not recognizing my face after the iOS 14 update yesterday. I thought a face id reset will solve the issue, but it is still not working. When trying to set the face id, it is showing the error of ‘move the iphone a little higher/trlower’. Nothing works after multiple attempts. Is this an iOS14 issue?

SOLVED: Hi everyone! I had my appointment with Apple Genius Bar today. This is a faulty hardware issue. This is not related to iOS 14 nor will it be fixed with a new update. Sorry to say you'll have to pay $650 to replace your phone. Luckily I was still under my 1-Year limited warranty. The employee told me there is a chip in the hardware that has failed. Thankfully I walked out with a new phone at no cost. But I wanted to share my experience in hopes that it gives you some answer to this issue.

Your iPhone 12 pro is under warranty still. Send it back to them get it sorted. Don't let it go out of warranty!
That’s not the issue. The software/firmware should NOT cause the hardware to fail. Obviously, it is a compatibility issue that they didn’t foresee and they’re ignoring. Hello Samsung here I come!
Software can tell hardware not to work.
one person on the thread said that their iPhone 12 isn’t working maybe this will move Apple to fix it.

I’m glad it’s working for you, but for my iPhone XS Max 14.3 did not repair or change a thing. FACE ID still isn’t working. Any luck for others?
2 days ago i updated to ios 14.3 and now my face id doesnt work. I got an iphone x, and i hate it.... I didnt put my phone on water or something like that... this is so sad...
