Resize smaller app icons in iOS 14

All icons are now smaller and thus more difficult to tap. They are slightly but noticable smaller. Throughout all history of iPhone, the icons have had certain dimensions. Now, Apple for some reason decided to ruin this. Just as everything else, bit by bit. But, does anyone know how to return the normal size, which has been throughout all older iOS-s?

You must have amazingly sensitive eyes to size differences. The apps were reduced in size by 1/64 of an inch. That's an incredibly small number.

You have two choices however. Forget about it as this is now the new normal for icon sizes and you can't enlarge them by 1/64".

OR, use Zoomed View - Settings > Display and Brightness and scan down to the bottom and change the view to Zoomed from Standard.

Other than that there is nothing you can do about this except get used to a very small difference.

we have the right to discuss it on here and express our opinion.

Actually you don't.

"Why" is not a technical support question.

Apple's terms, which you agreed to, state "to help people use Apple products..." Discussing Apple Policy, which is what you feel entitled to, is not permitted. The technical support answer has been provided. The icon sizes are not adjustable in iOS. End of discussion.

The change serves no purpose.

You're not crazy and I have been googling this for the last 1/2 hour trying to find a fix. For those of you who don't notice a difference, then hush, because it obviously doesn't apply to you! For me, there is a slight size difference for each icon, however, the worst difference is when you have multiple apps in one icon bubble as the change in size has made them extremely small now! Very difficult for you to see and NO, changing to zoom mode is NOT the answer. I'm looking to downgrade back to IOS 13 and crossing my fingers that it's possible because regardless if it doesn't affect you, it DOES affect me.

Apple has never supported downgrading iOS, so there is no legitimate path backwards.

As to telling people they cannot comment if they aren't bothered or don't find it objectionable, you should purchase the forum, then you can tell people what they can or can't post. Until then, you'll have to accept that not everyone is bothered by the very minimal 1/64" inch difference app icon sizes. And if you can post you are bothered, they too can post they are not bothered.

You used lobsterghost1’s name in the salutation, yet you addressed this comment to me.

And you said:

That’s actually incorrect. Additional blank space is used on the Home Screen to provide functionality such as shown under “Find and hide pages on your Home Screen” here.

To put this in context, I have an older iphone that has a smaller screen. I’ve had apple products for 20 years, so I’m usually happy and fine with updates, and I know that i’ll get used to this as well. But it is difficult on the eyes for me, as well as a ton of wasted empty space that serves no purpose at this time. The point of my original post is that some people find this an issue, and pointing out to them that it is insignificant, or you don’t have the issue, helps nobody. The best answer is explaining why there was a change, the need for that change and that there is no way to adjust apart from doing x,y,z . THAT is what helps those ox us on here looking for solutions.

What part of "there is no solution to be found here" is unclear?

Nobody here can address your complaints. Apple does not provide direct support here. I am not Apple.

I have not said the issue is insignificant, so please be careful with your accusations. It is clear some users don't like the change.

Again, WHY questions will not be answered here.

that you don't see a change, or that you don't think it is significant, or that is doesn't matter to you, doesn't help those of us that do see a change. And to us, it matters. it is a big deal.

Fair enough.

Nobody here can change this. Nobody here can explain why the changes were made.

Last week some of my app icons were noticeably smaller than others.

I fixed mine like this:

hold down any app icon until all of start to wiggle.

while a small one is wiggling, hold down on it until it “ grows” back to size. Do this to each app icon that needs to grow back to size.

When they grow to correct size, I restarted my phone and that fixed it. *did this last week. They’ve stayed the correct size.

  1. if all of your app icons are smaller, go to settings -Home Screen and Dock- and you can change them all to bigger size.
