Resize smaller app icons in iOS 14

All icons are now smaller and thus more difficult to tap. They are slightly but noticable smaller. Throughout all history of iPhone, the icons have had certain dimensions. Now, Apple for some reason decided to ruin this. Just as everything else, bit by bit. But, does anyone know how to return the normal size, which has been throughout all older iOS-s?

You must have amazingly sensitive eyes to size differences. The apps were reduced in size by 1/64 of an inch. That's an incredibly small number.

You have two choices however. Forget about it as this is now the new normal for icon sizes and you can't enlarge them by 1/64".

OR, use Zoomed View - Settings > Display and Brightness and scan down to the bottom and change the view to Zoomed from Standard.

Other than that there is nothing you can do about this except get used to a very small difference.

OK, perhaps you see something I don’t see. Or perhaps it affects your model iPhone and not mine.

I have not read about this in any iOS 14 writeup, and I’ve read many writeups. As I said, varying size Home Screen icons may appear because widgets may now appear on the Home Screen. Certainly some of those widgets may be quite large. The “Organize your Home Screen ...” article above provides more details.

THANK YOU!!! My post almost got deleted because of all the verbal exchanges I had with some of other people :) yes, the 1/64 of an inch, actually is almost half of millimetre (more precisely 0.4 of millimetre)! Now, half of millimetre, in terms of dimensions of a building or a car, might be insignificant, but, really, come on? In terms of iPhone SE or iPhone 6 real estate is a HUGE DIFFERENCE INDEED! This is by far the worst thing Apple ever did, in my opinion.

A nice thought but Negative, doesn’t fix it.

I think I’d be speaking for a few of us when I say Display Zoom was the first thing I checked hoping the nightmare was simply caused by iOS reverting the Display Zoom option to ‘Standard View’ as a byproduct of the iOS 14 update process. It didn’t revert at all.

Following the update, Display Zoom remained at the same setting of ‘Zoomed’ which was previously applied in iOS 13. And even at ‘Zoomed’ in iOS 14, the Icon size is still visibly reduced.

WOW......You people who are SEETHING, must have so little going in your lives to let something so utterly trivial as 1/64th of an inch upset your lives so much. How sad for you all that this extremely minor change has upset you so. One could only wonder what a Covid diagnosis or a car accident or your house being consumed by flames or your house being flooded by a hurricane would do to your psyche as so many other's have experienced lately.

In the scheme of life altering things, is this really that SIGNIFICANT to you?

"But, since there was not change, it doesn't matter. "

The fact that you don't see a change, or that you don't think it is significant, or that is doesn't matter to you, doesn't help those of us that do see a change. And to us, it matters.

Take two seconds and look at the side by side comparisons posted by Matesosh earlier in the conversation. I realize that it is not a huge change. But the change has happened, whether you believe it or not...or whether you can see it or not. And to someone with diminished sight capabilities, it is a big deal.

Fair enough.

Nobody here can change this. Nobody here can explain why the changes were made.

The top answer isn't helpful or insightful. The size has changed with the most recent update. There is nothing that can be done about the icon size in normal view once you upgrade to iOS 14. As previous users have mentioned, if a person is comfortable with larger icons and text in general, they can go to "Settings," "Display & Brightness," then "View" to select the zoomed view.

Partially blind people may want to use a zoomed view, but someone with tremors or large hands might prefer the normal view, as their sight isn't limited. It would not be challenging for Apple to implement a setting for icon size in the future, so it's a good idea to send in feedback suggesting such an update.
