iOS 14 ringer volume issues

Hi, I did the latest update to ios14. Since then my ringer volume keeps being turned down to minimal. I’m not turning it down, it seems to happen when the phone is locked. I cannot manually change the volume when in lock mode. Any ideas?

Hey there, Mountainmumma.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Thanks for your post about an issue with the volume adjusting on its own after an update. We'd be glad to see how we can help.

Does this happen specifically with the Phone app, or is it more something that occurs across all notifications? See if following the steps in the "Lock the ringer and alert volumes in Settings" section of Adjust the volume on iPhone helps to quell this issue and let us know.

Thanks!

Today I had a call with Apple Support here in Italy about another issue I am facing https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251857924 (this issue affects iPhone SE 2nd Gen only) and I have highlighted the ringer volume issue too.

A also sent to them a short video that explains the issue https://www.dropbox.com/s/pla436vwokglgem/RPReplay_Final1601631184.MP4?dl=0

I'm now waiting for further info from Apple Support.

I have the same problem, only since installing iOS 14.0. The 14.0.1 bug fix did NOT correct the problem. In Sounds And Haptics, I have the ringer volume slider set to high, control with buttons off. If I check the settings after a short time, the ringer slider is set all the way to the lowest volume (mute??) This does not affect the alarm.

This needs to be addressed ASAP! I have the setting “Change with buttons” turned off. This to me would mean that no matter what, the ringer/notification volume should not move unless I go into the sound settings and manually slide the slider. Pretty much every day my ringer/notification volume is now slid all the way to the left and I’m missing out on important things here Apple. Fix this issue please!

I updated iPhone to iOS 14.0.1 and paired new iWatch 6. I am having the same ringer and notification mute issue on both iPhone and cellular watch. I have the volume setting in the middle and the control with buttons off. I reset the iPhone and the watch and this fixed it for the rest of yesterday. After being on their chargers over night, the issue returned today. Apple please fix this issue!

I had the same thing happen. In fact, I turned up the volume, went into the news app via a widget, and went back to the volume slider in sounds. Low and behold, in the 1 minute it took to go there and back, the volume had changed. I closed the settings, reopened settings and literally saw the slider move suddenly from midrange to about 3/4 loud.

I've read through all the replies, along with some other outside threads on this issue. Some say it's just a visual glitch and some say they cannot replicate the issue - well I experience my volume dropping to 0 several times a day and I'm on iOS14.2 dev beta 1. I'm installing iOS 14.2 dev beta 2 right now. We'll see if that fixes it but I can confirm that it's not just a visual volume slider glitch. I'll pick up my phone and realize I've missed several calls and texts all because the volume has dropped to 0. Hopefully this next dev update fixes the problem. The Release Notes dont address the bug but we'll see how it does
