iOS 14: Wrong Caller ID on Incoming Call

I am experiencing the same problem since upgrading to iOS 14. Caller ID of incoming calls usually is the last call I made whether from cellular network, WhatsApp and or facebook messenger. I hope Apple fixes this issue soon.

iOS 14 has a major bug Every time you would get a call, the Caller ID on the screen (before you answer the call) shows the WRONG caller name. However, on the recent calls list, you can see the real name of the caller.

The wrong called caller ID appears updating to iOS 14. It usually happens if you are using multiple phone calling apps such as Whatsapp, Line, Skype, etc.

Restart your phone

If you have a phone With Face ID:

• Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power off slider appears.
• Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
• To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

If you have an iPhone with a home button

• Press and hold the side button until the power off slider appears.
• Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off.
• To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Update to iOS 14.0.1

Apple launched iOS 14.0.1 few days after the launch of iOS 14. Follow the below steps to update your iPhone to the latest version.

1. Plug your device into power and connect to the Internet with Wi-Fi.
2. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
3. Tap Download and Install. 

Reset your network settings

If nothing works, please reset your network settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

• Go to Settings
• Tap on General
• Click on Reset
• Select Reset Network Settings.

Hello all that are confused.

This is not the first iOS 14 glitch I’ve seen on these pages. I’ve seen that caller ID will say “United States” instead of something like “Morganton GA“. Please all report the bug at https://www.apple.com/feedback/

Did you let Apple know, either by using the Contact Support link at the top of this page or going to https://apple.com/feedback?

Posting in this user-to-user forum is NOT a way to communicate with Apple.

I talked with Apple Support today. They believe this is a software glitch on my phone so they recommend me to do a FACTORY RESET following this instructions:

If this does not solve the issue, they want me to service the phone.

I don't think this is going to fix it but I will give it a shoot.

Restarting the phone should fix it temporarily—>Restart your iPhone - Apple Support. WhatsApp support says it is a bug in the WhatsApp app, and it occurs after using WhatsApp. But I’ve seen reports that linked it to other messaging apps.

I haven’t seen any reports from anyone who doesn’t use any messaging apps.

Honestly guys, if all comments here are just from Apple’s users, what is the point of making such complines? I already sent a feedback to Apple regarding this issue before the last iOS update and I thought they are going to fix it. But I faced the same problem again two days ago.

If your iPhone is having serious problems, you may not even be able to make the Slide to Power Off swipe at all.

You will always, though, be able to force an immediate restart. Briefly, what you're going to end up doing is pressing and holding both the volume up and the Sleep/Wake buttons again. However, you're first going to effectively tell the iPhone that you want to restart instead of shut down.

• Press the volume up button once
• Press the volume down button once
• Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
• Keep holding even when you see Slide to Power Off
• Keep holding until you see the Apple logo

Do this carefully.

If you skip the pressing of the volume up and down buttons, and instead just, for instance, hold volume up and Sleep/Wake, you get a version of the shutdown page. Rather than the regular one, it has that same Slide to Power Down option, but also an Emergency SOS button.

Other users in this thread have reported that a forced restart of their iPhone fixed it.

Follow these steps:

• iPad models with Face ID: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then press and hold the Power button until the device restarts.
• iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.
• iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPod touch (7th generation): Press and hold both the Top (or Side) button and the Volume Down buttons until you see the Apple logo.
• iPad with Home button, iPhone 6s or earlier and iPod touch (6th generation) or earlier: Press and hold both the Home and the Top (or Side) buttons until you see the Apple logo.

Dear sir, I tried the method that irwin wong mentioned, and I ended up with turn off, emergency and medical call screen 😂 (see pic.). I selected (slide to power off) and I turned my iPhone off. Actually I don’t know if this will solve the problem or not, but I will inform you soon.

Hello, I am facing the same issue, it's usually showing the number I last dialed on Whatsapp as a caller ID of the next number that is calling me via direct LINE.

Yes i am also facing the same issue if the last call is a WhatsApp call. When it will be fixed as I am facing serious problem as can’t understand who is calling.

Even ios 14.0.1 update cant fix up this problem. Apple Shud fix this asap

Same here, last whatsapp call when i am getting a line call from someone else. Really annoying bug. Only happended after updating to IOS14

has nothing to do with provider because tmobile austria - thats me - and friends with other providers have the same issue.
