iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

I've also been fighting this notification issue for months on my iPhone 11 Pro. Apple no help. I discovered that turning off bluetooth on my phone fixed the problem (allowed text notifications to sound and appear, whether the phone was locked or not). But with bluetooth on, notifications only sounded & appeared with the phone unlocked. Obviously, I didn't want to leave bluetooth off all the time.

I also came to realize this issue started when I got a new Apple Watch 6 a few months ago. Coincidence? Taking the watch on and off didn't help. And with the watch on, it didn't sound notifications either.

But the posting from StubbornPixie got me thinking about killing the mirror function on the watch for the Messages app. So, iPhone Watch app>Messages>"Custom" "Notifications Off" seems to have SOLVED THE PROBLEM for me. My iPhone 11 Pro now notifies me of incoming text messages with bluetooth on. I realize my watch won't ping with messages until Apple fixes the root problem, but at least I won't be missing message notifications altogether.

Hope this helps others.

PLEASE fix the text notification alert issue! I know multiple people have identified this as a problem and now I'm adding my name to the list! I have the iPhone 12 Pro and always keep it updated (currently with 14.4). I have missed more than one important message because of this problem. I do not want to have to carry my phone around and check it constantly!! HELP!!!

I ALSO DO NOT WANT TO WIPE EVERYTHING OUT AND START OVER...TOO MUCH WILL BE LOST AND UNRETREIVABLE.

I too have tried all of the above. I "unclicked" everything, rebooted my phone then went back and put all settings back as described above (where they were in the first place!), rebooted my phone again and ...... still have the problem. I am using an iPhone 12 Pro...

Reset all didn’t work . I somehow fixed by uninstalling apps one by one and reinstalling them . When doing so , iOS prompts you to enable notifications and it seems that it did fix it .

For apple : looks to me that the new update is bypassing/overwriting/ignoring the notifications settings by setting them to false by default . Only a fresh reinstall seems to fix it .

I literally spent all day yesterday googling answers to this question and asked everyone I know to no avail. I wasn't getting a single notification for my messages after the update, all gone. And this morning I thought to check the notifications! My notification switch for messages was turned off. And boom it’s working again! Don’t know if you’ve already done this but I had to share since NO ONE thought to mention this. Good luck!

OMG now, in addition to no alert notifications, I find that Messages on my iPhone are not syncing to my MacBook Pro and iPad. I manually synced to iCloud and the texts on my iPhone are still not in my other devices. They have not synced since I did what someone suggested and did a reset. I have checked my settings and everything is set up to sync. Nothing is turned off. Can't figure out why my messages stopped syncing to my other devices. I am so frustrated.

Definitely intentionally done once again. Same exact issues as an update years ago Battery drain, not refreshing emails, no notification sounds on LTE only when AirPods or EarPods are connected on an active phone call (works when on WiFi) they do this so everyone thinks their phone is messed up so we get ready to purchase a new one every year especially when a new release is coming out it’s really ridiculous and they should be investigated more thoroughly

This is what worked for me. My icons had all been changed so I would have a them. I have several widgets, a slide show, etc. and I kept thinking that was all I had done after the first upgrade iOS 14.

I went to shortcuts and there is a notification there. It goes into whatever shortcut you have such as messages. This explains it better than I can. Just so glad to have everything working now.
