iOS 14 text notification issues

I am not getting sound notifications on text messages nor is the banner showing up on my locked screen. I have an iPhone 11 and just downloaded the latest iOS 14. Have reset my phone twice now. Please advise. Thank you.

The problem with turning off wrist detection is that it turns off the security features that accompany it. Not to mention a lot of other features that go with wrist detection. So I won't be turning it off.

For me, the ONLY thing that consistently makes the notifications come thru is turning OFF bluetooth, which also has its drawbacks. Apple NEEDS TO FIX THIS!

Let me first thank all those who have tried various solutions to this mess Apple has created with Message notifications.

And let me say that I tried disabling iMessage as a fix, as suggested. And then the problem got worse (how could that be possible?). With iMessage disabled on my iPhone, I then got NO messages... period... on my phone. No text notifications, and no messages showing up, with either the phone locked or unlocked. Yes, SMS was still enabled under Message settings. Messages and notifications still came thru on my Mac and iPad, but my phone was silent, even with bluetooth off, which used to solve the annunciation problem. Facebook Messenger notifications did come thru, however.

Bottom line, iMessage needs to be left ON on my iPhone to get texts.

The mystery and frustrations continue...

Ok guys, afeter 4 months trying to fix this problem and reading this discussión almost everyday, I finally have my notifications working. What I did? I changed my cell phone provider. My daughter has an iPhone 12 pro and she changed her cell phone service to Movistar (I am not sure what is the name of this company in your countries) but as soon as she changed she began to experience the notifications disfunction, that alerted me and I decided to change Movistar to Claro (another local provider in Colombia), after installing the new SIM card I made a network reset and voila, everything is working now.

This link was also the reason why we decided to test other options, I know it is in spanish, but maybe it could help you

I really hope this works for you guys

PaulaMesa, you are right, the problem is the mobile carrier!! Thanks to your comment I began to remember and check emails, I identified that the problem of notifications started the same day that I made a change of plan with my mobile carrier Claro (that's the name of my mobile carrier in my country). I have done a test, I put in my iPhone a chip of another number and the notifications started working without problems;  then I put my chip in another cell phone and that cell phone stopped receiving notifications.

In conclusion, as “PaulaMesa” said, the problem is the mobile carrier.  Now I have to call Claro and I hope that the technology area knows how to fix this, or my last option will be to change the mobile carrier.

This explains why no solution at the iOS level solved the problem, and why not even changing the device was fixed. Check if you recently made changes to your mobile carrier. I hope this can help you.

I think you can see from the months of posts that people have reported this to Apple all along. Apple is aware of the issue - this forum is allowing us to vent and share.

This is obviously not an easy fix or it would have been solved by now.

I am in the camp that our devices are fighting with each other on who gets the notification - but there are also people who simply have notifications turned off and don’t realize it.

I for one refuse to do any workarounds out of fear that once the issue is resolved, I won’t remember what settings I adjusted. I expect this to go back to “normal” with a proper fix from Apple.

I know not everyone has the luxury to wait and must have a workaround.

This is a technical support forum. It is not really intended for "venting".

The more people who report things properly to Apple, the more data points Apple has about how prevalent the problem is. So, posting here, not productive. Posting feedback gets the data where it should go.

I realize that Apple doesn't read this forum however there are thousands with this notification problem that do. I follow this faithfully and have noticed that there isn't one issue common to everybody. Some use bluetooth, some don't. Some have Apple watches, some don't. I, for one, get visual and audible notifications UNLESS I'm using my phone. I'm using 14.0 and staying there because subsequent updates have lost ALL notifications and at least I'm able to see when I have a text. With the hundreds, if not thousands of complaints to senior techs etc. Apple's silence is very telling. It means they are CLUELESS to a fix and there's no going back. I will continue to watch this forum in case lightning strikes and a member finds a fix without a tech.

Responding makes him feel important. I mean, nobody read this apparently. First mistake on idris is literally assume that you, other people here and I have not at all opened tickets with apple support and “senior advisors” telling you to restart your device as a solution, or restore the device...... seriously? As far as why these forums exist, to share solutions or even avoid a call to apple (if there is a solution) since it is painful to go through their “troubleshooting steps” to then have your screen shared with them (5 senior advisors by the way) and 2 months later they just tell you to wait. I bought another one just FYI and everything works just FYI, so maybe a replacement is the solution
