I had Game Center disabled before upgrading to 14.0.1. However, Game Center started popping up asking for a sign in every time I opened one game. This seemed to fix it: Go into settings and find Game Center. (Toggle was off) Press the toggle to turn it on. It asked if I wanted to sign in with my Apple ID. I hit cancel. Toggle went back off. No more Game Center notification so far.

For the love of GOD Apple stop this insanity. Not only irritating and annoying, but for business users it’s another avenue for attack.

Our engineer found signs that game feature was allowing some kind of location tracking vulnerability or exploit opportunity—possibly through a iOS device of a compromised contact or impersonator—to gather some type of intel—not sure what or how, but on phones that had unusual activity, e.g. the vpn client was redirected to a rogue VPN server, they user was signed into games without their knowledge.

We had some success using Screentime content restriction, blocking multiplayer games, etc.

For those who still believe IOS and MacOS devices cannot be compromised—maybe you have nothing to steal? As long as Apple devices (and HP) are manufactured in China, where PRC has access to all IP and hardware, what do you think? Communist party retains 50% ownership of any private company.

Still skeptical, you need go no further than the 2020 T2 chip fiasco—I have a $3000+ MBP purchased theee months ago that can never be remediated—it joins a stack of other MBPs, that due to advanced persistent threat, we lost root access—Apple’s solution? Replace drives and motherboards at our own cost.

That worked for me - was playing Solitaire City - every time I reopened the App the Game Centre window popped up asking me to sign in. Went to settings on the game and turned the “Use Game Centre” toggle to Off no more pop up.

Interesting thing is it seemed the 14.2 update has turned that toggle back on on all games even if they were off beforehand!!

It used to go away for a while after a few cancels. For the last week or two it doesn’t go away for a while, but comes up about 80% of the time. Even if you just leave the game for a moment and come right back it pops up again. A real nuisance.

I'd like to be able to remove game center from IOS 14 entirely so my son doesn't have a million things to distract himself with during remote class time. Our district wasn't able to supply us with devices. I've blocked everything else. I'm quite angry about it. I purchased the device for my child's education and now it feels like they're putting profits over the wellbeing of kids. Come on Apple. It simply shouldn't be this hard.

This is what is happening to me. Every afternoon I find I have been signed in to Game Center without me doing a thing. I don’t want it EVER. When I have signed our and disabled it everywhere I can I don’t expect to keep seeing it. Very unhappy....

Agreed--I hate it. I never use it. It's just an annoying popup every time I open a game. If I get signed out, I can't even open the game without a full screen telling me to sign in. I DO NOT WANT game center, I have NEVER wanted game center, why can't I get rid of it?

This was happening to me as well, I went into notifications, then games, and re-enabled Game Centre. Then I disabled sounds, badges, turned “show previews” to never and “notification grouping” off.

then turned notifications off again and that seemed to do the trick.

Folks, you do realize Apple is a vehicle to collect money from its customers and use it to pay egregious comp to its management. They get away with this because a lot of folks send them money for all sorts of “services”, including Game Center.

Most likely is we have to wait it out. Some will sign in, other will tolerate, a few will complain. But no one will leave. Welcome to what’s usually a temporary Hotel California. At some point Apple will find another “service” to mine, find more suckers to send them money and leave us gamers in peace.

Though, as Apple Maps routed me to a street that dead ended before my cross street yesterday, perhaps nothing will improve.

I keep turning the **** thing off and it keeps turning itself back on. On of the worse concepts that apple ever came up with. Even turned of the individual games access to the internet but game center keeps turning back on. Aggravating enough to make me think about switching to an android phone and I have been with apple since 1984. Disgusting.
