Why is 1TB of storage being used for health app?

Why does it say that my health app is taking up 1TB of storage? Is this a bug for iOS 14?

not only did I have an with the 1.6tb of health data, I also didn’t have a current back up on my Apple Watch to back up new one too. Turned off health data, did a back up, turned it back on n did a back up. Restored content/settings. Cleared the health data storage and was able to pair my new Apple Watch with current data. Job done!

Hi Shaft80, Just got off the phone with Apple, and they have confirmed that they have now received numerous calls etc in relation to the same issue, and the engineers believe that this is an issue linked to the iOS 14 update.

Apple will resolve it in one of 2 ways, 1) being an update (the likely scenario) and 2) public information to apple owners in how to resolve the issues. There is no timeline as to when this will be done and again is down to two elements 1) how many people report the issue direct to Apple rather than on forums/communities, as they do not monitor these and 2) how long it takes to formulate a 'work around'.

So really it is just a waiting game, but it is very important for people to report directly to Apple.

In relation to my apple watch, mine is a series 5, and was working fine up until iOS 14 and iOS 7 (watch) updates. Apple saying that this is directly linked to the health app issues and that MUST NOT unpair, reset etc the watch from the phone, and wait for an update or further advice.

I have the very same problem mentioned here, and I asked my own question about it (Apple Health taking up 8,36 PB of storage). My problem is, Apple Watch stopped syncing completely, and Whatsapp also refuses to open. I won't restore my phone, because there are important data on it. I cannot backup to ICloud or to my Computer, because neither has 8 PB of storage. Apple is probably aware, but please release the fixing update as fast as possible.

I went for my first run yesterday since I received my new Watch, and just like you've said, it didn't record my workout. The watch knows I did it, as my Move/Exercise ring were closed, but when I went into the activity app on my phone, it said my last exercise was over a week ago... don't judge me, I've been busy :)

This is just another level of frustration as I'm faced with either losing all of my workout data if I factory reset, or I'm losing current workouts due to this issue! I hope a fix comes soon. :(

That’s exactly my frustration, sometimes it appears in the activity app and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s so hit and miss and makes having an Apple Watch pointless, don’t get me wrong I love it, but a big part of why I have it is for the fitness. The restring energy usage has also halved on the health app since iOS 14.

I hope that they get it sorted ASAP

Hopefully I'm wrong - I did read an article that said IOS 14.0.1 was pre-loaded and so wouldn't be released until the iPhone 12, however, a day later the update was released, so it obviously wasn't true. That being said, there's no guarantee that 14.0.2 will even fix the issue... I'm going to give it to the end of the week and then call them again. At the very least, it will log another ticket and add to the total number!

Hi Shaft80, yes I hope so too and I think it will follow soon. Tomorrow will be a week from the last update so hopefully they've got something new for us. I'm going to hold on trying to track a workout or download apps until then (because after I did this last time after 14.0 , it triggered the issue and then I was not able to use my watch basically).. So I'm going to sit tight just in case, as for now my watch is syncing with my phone after 14.0.1.

70.62 PB. Happens twice now, once somehow I managed to fix it (wasn’t as simple as a reset) no idea how I did it and it’s cropped up again, hoping for a fix as cannot backup “70 PB”+25GB of stuff to iCloud or Mac. I was told to unpair and factory reset everything but don’t want to really as last time I did that a while back lost a significant amount of data and don’t fancy telling all my contacts again.

Ok, thanks a lot for your answer.

I have been using a 3rd party sleep tracking app, and when i deleted the app and downloaded it back, it said that there were already sleep data for that day (which i didn't had the app installed and didn't wear the watch). And the app didn't work on the apple watch. I taught that this whole apple health issue may be sth about sleep data.

And also, are there anybody in this thread without an apple watch?
