Ringer and Alerts Volume Issue - iOS 14

Since upgrading to iOS 14, the Ringer and Alerts volume is randomly turning all the way down and sometimes back up by itself. I use my phone as my alarm so it bugs me if my alarm is super quiet and I oversleep. Anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes?

I have seen a lot of people commenting that they will see in the morning whether their issue is fixed. I have found a way that (at least for me) will show you whether the bug is likely to exist for you or not.

Go into your alarm list and hit 'Edit', choose an alarm and go into the 'Sound' menu. This is the list of sounds you can choose from to use to wake you up. I noticed that playing a sound and then hitting 'Back' to stop the sound triggers the bug so you should be able to work out whether the bug will affect you.

I also agree with the previous commenter who stated that the alert volume will reset to the same level as the game volume setting. That means, if you have your game volume set to minimum, the alert volume will set to minimum after playing the alarm sound. If affected by this bug, try to remember to set your game volume (the volume bar movable from the Control Centre) to where you want your alert volume to stay and this should do the job for you (I hope).

Got my iPhone 12 last week, did an update to iOS 14.1, never received a notification sound since. Though I would give iPhone a try after using android for 4 years. The experience is not great so far! The touch screen is not responding well enough to beat my old oneplus 7 pro! And the auto silent thingy really bugs me! Seriously Apple!!! Why you charge twice the price for a **** phone?! No more apple phone for me!!!

Same exact issue here on the 11 pro (Verizon) NO fix on iOS 14.4. I’ve given feedback to Apple. I work in medicine and missing some critical texts and phone calls. I can not tolerate this volume turning way down on its own and the volume up/down buttons stopping to adjust. This is a vital function that renders BASIC functions highly unreliable. This is my first year with Apple product and I’m pretty surprised and very disappointed that this very basic yet critical function is so badly and pretty much daily malfunctioning. I’ll have to leave Apple behind and move back to Android if this isn’t quickly fixed. My patient care has been impacted by this very directly and I can’t continue to tolerate it

I have a similar problem. In my case, I like the alerts and other sounds level very low. But regularly, without me doing anything, the volume is maxed out.

Generally speaking, I find the handling of sound in iOS a disaster. Ring sound and other alert sounds volume should be handled separately. I know that simplicity goes a long way, but it's irritating not to be able to manage these sounds differently.
