Reseting the watched and the paired phone has fixed the route tracking for walks, but I still don’t have any of the previous maps. Are they gone for good?
i am having the same problem - I have lost all my previous workout maps in both the Activity/Fitness and Health Apps.
The map record of workouts was such a wonderful feature and a real loss - at the moment.
Please advise WHEN this issue will fixed!
I have an Apple Watch 2. Until the last update to the iPhone software (iOS14) all my sports activities were properly
documented including a route on the map.
After updating the software - the map appears occasionally and when it appears it only indicates the starting point in green. I lost all activity history until the update
More, I don’t see the Apple Watch Workout in the list of Apps at the Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
Could it be related to the latest update?
BTW. I updated to version 14.0.1 - the problem remains the same.
Same issue here. I have done all of the recommended processes and still nothing. It would be nice if there were an actual response from Apple on this. I am guessing if I buy a new Apple watch this will be fixed. Engineered obsolescence maybe...?
i tried all this and still have no map of workout on iphone fitness app
also health app is only reflecting partial results of distance walked/run
i have the same isssue
I also have this problem. All settings are correct and am running 14.0.1
I have updated my watch to 7.0.1 and still exercise maps don't work. In fact, some exercises since then don't even show.
To see the map, you must turn on route tracking. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, turn location services on then tap Apple Watch Workout, then tap While Using the App.
Then tap on maps then tap While using the app.
Then tap on System Services and turn on motion calibration and distance.
Another place to check is on the watch in settings/privacy/Location Services and make sure this is turned on and scroll down to apple watch workout and select while using the app.
All the settings on my iPhone and Watch are as you suggested but I have no maps. All the maps from previous walks are gone. I can only see maps for the last 4 days and they don't show a trail, just mark the starting location.
Is this an improvement?
I have the exact same problem - even the route of my previous workouts display only the starting location. It seems to be a bigger SW problem in the Apple HealthKit database on iOS 14, since other users are reporting this as well...
I‘ve tried unpairing / re-pairing, resetting / restoring (AW + iPhone) and setting up as new (AW + iPhone) - nothing seems to work.
I guess we need to wait until Apple fixes this issue with a future SW update.
In the meantime we need to address this issue in a single community thread - this one has the most replies so far (please follow up there):

I’m also having this issue. All settings are as before the update and I’ve tried unpairing and re-pairing the watch.
