After updating to iOS 14 i can’t copy and paste anymore. I’ve updated all the apps. When trying to copying I do not get the select or select all feature.

I FOUND THE SOLUTION!

I was having an issue similar to this thread: I cannot paste my copied text from one application to another application

For me I was able to see the "copy" option... but the "paste" option would only show up after my 2nd or 3rd attempt trying to copy/paste from one app to another... and also sometimes in the same app. This was happening in native Apple apps as well as 3rd party apps.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro running the latest iOS so there's no reason I should have been having these issues. I spent 40 mins on a chat with an Apple agent who kept asking the same questions but no resolution.

So I kept searching and found THIS ARTICLE!! And that's where I finally... after 3 or 4 months... found the solution!!!

"For some users, disabling and then re-enabling the Universal Clipboard seems to fix this issue. To do so, you need to disable the Handoff feature. Go to Settings > General > Handoff > Uncheck. After this, log out of your iCloud account and restart your device. Once it reboots, login back to the iCloud. Then check if the Copy and Paste not working issue after the iOS 14 update is fixed or not."

I'm not sure if that alone solved my problem so I'll also share the other two things I did, as well...

I followed the above instructions and before restarting my phone and logging back into iCloud here's what I did:

Go to Settitngs > General > Reset

  • Reset All Settings
  • Reset Network Settings

Then I shut down my phone... then restarted... then logged back into iCloud... and I'm back in business. After 4 months of being incredibly frustrated, I finally have copy/paste working again properly!

I wish I had this solution 4 months ago!

They changed how you copy certain things. If holding your finger still does not allow you to select something, try a rapid double tap. This seems to let you select, and then copy and paste. I don’t understand why Apple doesn’t reply on these forums. I just stumbled on this solution by accidentally hitting a number twice that I had been unsuccessfully trying to copy.

Apple changed the way you select items on some programs. If holding your finger still on an item doesn't give you the option you want, try rapidly tapping a word or number twice. Then you can copy and paste as expected. This works in the phone book and other places. In FB on a phone or a newer iPad as far as I can tell, you can only select a complete block of text, then edit the unwanted content away. This is often more easily accomplished by pasting into a word processing app. Pages seems like a logical choice, but Notes seems quicker. I'm no expert, I am sure there is a lot more to it. Apple should have clear instructions easy to find, but I sure haven't found them.

Hello Everyone! So I realized something last night - IF you go to/put your cursor at the very end of all the text in whatever box/app/message you are sending....and lightly hold or rest your finger THEN Select and Select All pop up almost right away. It does not seem to work as well (or at all) if trying to hold down/select from middle of the text or other spot. Would like to hear back if this works for others also - try it and see?
