I FOUND THE SOLUTION!

I was having an issue similar to this thread: I cannot paste my copied text from one application to another application

For me I was able to see the "copy" option... but the "paste" option would only show up after my 2nd or 3rd attempt trying to copy/paste from one app to another... and also sometimes in the same app. This was happening in native Apple apps as well as 3rd party apps.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro running the latest iOS so there's no reason I should have been having these issues. I spent 40 mins on a chat with an Apple agent who kept asking the same questions but no resolution.

So I kept searching and found THIS ARTICLE!! And that's where I finally... after 3 or 4 months... found the solution!!!

"For some users, disabling and then re-enabling the Universal Clipboard seems to fix this issue. To do so, you need to disable the Handoff feature. Go to Settings > General > Handoff > Uncheck. After this, log out of your iCloud account and restart your device. Once it reboots, login back to the iCloud. Then check if the Copy and Paste not working issue after the iOS 14 update is fixed or not."

I'm not sure if that alone solved my problem so I'll also share the other two things I did, as well...

I followed the above instructions and before restarting my phone and logging back into iCloud here's what I did:

Go to Settitngs > General > Reset

  • Reset All Settings
  • Reset Network Settings

Then I shut down my phone... then restarted... then logged back into iCloud... and I'm back in business. After 4 months of being incredibly frustrated, I finally have copy/paste working again properly!

I wish I had this solution 4 months ago!

Hello,

I had the same issues and found a different solution after a lot of frustrated attempts.

I was trying to copy a text from Messages to WhatsApp. Here is what I did:

  1. Selected the text from the app you want to copy the text from (in my case, it was Messages)
  2. A "pop-up" menu will show up on top of the selection. Choose "Share..."
  3. Another "pop-up" menu will appear, select the app you want to your text to be pasted into
  4. That's it! Once your text shows up on the app of your choice, you will be able to continue to edit it as per usual.

I hope this will be useful!

I have been having the same problem! Everything on my phone and all apps are up-to-date. Ever since updating to iOS 14, I cannot copy and paste. This goes for any app where I’m writing text. I can’t select text, select all text, copy, or paste. When I try to do so, the only thing it lets me do is move my cursor around text but I can’t grab text. Additionally, if I tap on an already sent message or photo to copy it, I can successfully select “copy” but then when I go to paste somewhere else, the copied item is missing and it’s as if I never copied anything to begin with. I usually have to go through this process 3-4 times before my phone actually remembers that I copied an item. It is very frustrating. I hope Apple fixes this bug ASAP.

I find it weird that people are still having this problem. Mine stopped when I deleted Facebook app off all devices only use in a browser and login and out.. my problem with Apple is I sold my iphone6 and forgot my iPad was connected what a problem to update and iPad is continually asking for non existent ids password, finally got around it connect to a desk top only to go through the hole procedure to tell me, that the iPad can’t be found, what! I say, , ,! Wrong cord.. it wouldn’t wipe setting and restore because I was using wrong cord..Stay tune.. The life of a extinct Apple ID..It’s now taking on a new life form, will my lighten cable stand it’s defence..

To copy the text value of the address only and not the maps link:

On iOS Maps:

Hold your finger down on the actual text of the address for 2 seconds till the whole field becomes interactive, then let go. an instance bubble of "Copy" should pop up to copy the text.

On Mac OS Maps:

With your cursor click on the actual text of the address you are trying to copy and hold for two seconds, then let go. an instance bubble of Copy should pop up.

Its really annoying that Apple is employing dark UX (user experience) to artificially curve the normal UX to copy text that is so utilitarian everywhere else in the ecosystem. Apple doesn't have "Copy Address" in the contextual menu, It does not have it in the "Share Menu" and the text is somehow automagically not selectable. Not only does this infuriate Apple's users with google-like behavior, its so easily fixable. This is some board room bs of trying to control user behavior the wrong way in the hopes that enough pain and annoyance will acquiesce them into just using Apple Maps. No one but you [decision maker] is buying your own steaming pile. This type of dinosaur thinking are the seeds of extinction. If your mapping capabilities were truly the best, then you'd have no problem letting your users decide what is best for them in any given situation.

Please fix this Tim. Pretty please.

And also, please add downloadable data and peer to peer event sighting like Gaia or OsmAndMaps does. Apple Maps could be so much more useful if you all didn't treat it like an after thought.
