Huge battery drain WatchOS 7 - Series 5 Apple Watch

I have the same problem with a series 4 Apple Watch.

Same here. Put my watch on yesterday at 9am 100% charge. No workouts, no overuse. By 6pm it was down to 10%. I could easily go 1.5 days without charge before the update.

Giving this a try. Hope it works, I need my watch to last all day so I can make it through the day as an essential Amazon worker.

How are you unpairing it , by turning the Bluetooth off ? Or is there a another way

I am about to try this. When you paired it again did you restore from a backup or set it up as if it was a new watch? Thanks.

Same thing is happening to me, never had a problem until the update, battery dying by 3pm so stops recording and closes down during my after work runs

I have the same problem with my series 4. This unacceptable. Please fix now!

I also faced the similar situation. My battery level usually will be in the 40% region at 10pm even after my 1 hr run sessions. I start with 100% at 7am. I tried resetting the watch and it did not help. So don't bother doing it. However, I did found 1 way to help minimize the battery drain which is to turn off the wifi. By doing so, my battery level is not too bad but I don't think it was on par with watchOS 6 previously. Have to monitor another day to see how it goes. Hope it helps you guys out there.

my watch is still under Apple care as I’ve had mine for under a year. Waiting a bit, but if there isn’t a patch, I’ll call Apple and request a replacement WITHOUT this OS!

I’ve had a 11 hour (max) battery life after updating to watch OS7. I’ve called apple support, and after 90minutes on the phone we worked out the solution. Like more people do; unpaid your watch, reinstall as a new watch. Now I have 20% battery drain in 6 hours. Before I’ve had like 60% loss in that time. So that did the trick.

I was having massive battery drain on my Series 4 watch after installing WatchOS7. I unpaired the watch and reset to factory standards. I then reinstalled from a backup and it immediately fixed the problem. Since the reinstall, I have only used about 10% battery drain in about 4-hours.

Yes. Unpaired it completely from my phone. Then did the same setup process as when I first got the watch. You can restore from the backup so it keeps all the same stuff you had before

Same thing - ended up doing an un-pair and re-pair and this solved the problem.

This took about 20 minutes.
